About Mohua Print

Mohua Print is a fine-art photo printing studio in Golden Bay (Mōhua), New Zealand. Archival papers, pigment inks, prints in any size up to A2.

We believe, it should be super easy to get your photo printed in high quality. It should not mean shipping it off to a complicated city lab or settling for a quick low quality print. Those are the choices you had until now: expensive and fiddly expert jargon, complex upload print labs, or fast and basic chain experience. You never quite knew what would come out either way. We figured there had to be a simpler way.

We print any size up to A2, from the classic album and frame formats like 5 × 7″ and 8 × 10″ to a custom size cut to the millimetre. What we are not is a bulk snapshot lab; stacks of cheap prints are done well enough by the big chains. What we offer is giving the picture you love the print it deserves.

I am Christoph. I started Mohua Print here in Golden Bay. Getting a good print of a photo you love should be easy. I use a professional pigment printer and two high quality papers that I know well: a silky pearl and a matte cotton rag. And I take real care over how each print comes out.

I watch out for the small things that almost nobody notices but that make the picture so much better. A green cast in the sky. A horizon that is not quite straight. A photo that is a touch too dark. I fix things like that before I print as part of the service. If I spot something bigger that should be done, or if an uploaded picture just does not have the needed quality I’ll ask first before going ahead. I work thoroughly. It bothers me when something is done in a rush. Each picture counts.

Our gallery pictures are mostly from Golden Bay. This landscape here has everything. Rough and wild, soft and warm.

I believe in printing pictures: and a few unique ones on the wall are worth more than hundreds buried on the phone.
